Empower Success Corp Becomes a Points of Light Certified Service Enterprise

Empower Success Corps (ESC) is pleased to announce that it has been certified by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, as a Service Enterprise. Only 11 percent of nonprofits nationwide in volunteer management and organizational performance achieve Service Enterprise certification, making it a prestigious accomplishment. Certification signifies that organizations have the capability and management expertise to strategically use volunteers to improve the performance of their organization.

ESC completed a rigorous assessment, over 20 hours of training and coaching, and an extensive internal planning and change process to better integrate volunteers into our human capital strategy. By achieving this level of excellence and certification, ESC is now better equipped to leverage the time and talent of volunteers and better meet our mission.

“ESC’s certification documentation materials are the gold standard and we plan to use them as templates for other organizations working towards certification as a Service Enterprise,” said Lisl Hacker, Director of Training and Technical Assistance for the Massachusetts Service Alliance, the local hub for Service Enterprise certification.

Research conducted by the TCC Group, a national program and evaluation firm, found that organizations operating as Service Enterprises outperform peer organizations on all aspects of organizational effectiveness, and are more adaptable, sustainable and capable of scaling their work.

“Empower Success Corps relies on the talent and expertise of our cadre of skills-based volunteers to engage with our clients and deliver our programming. The Service Enterprise process has enhanced our internal capacity to support our volunteers by examining our volunteer management systems, learning to embrace research-based practices, and identifying expanded opportunities for our volunteers. I am pleased ESC was a participant in this initiative and would urge our sister nonprofits to explore this cost-effective training opportunity,” said Julie Crockford, president of Empower Success Corps.

The Service Enterprise program is a national change management program that helps organizations gain a greater return on volunteer investment to better achieve their mission.
