David Ellis

About

David Ellis is a former administrator and director of numerous higher education institutions and museums and science centers. Ellis also serves on several environmental and collegiate boards. David’s expertise lies in his vast knowledge of museum management, grant writing and non-profit experience.

Why do you consult with ESC?

My two ESC projects to date have involved strategic planning. The consultant’s role has been to help guide the process, work with the institution’s leadership and staff, undertake applicable research, and bring a broader view of the process and opportunities to the effort, as appropriate.

MORE ABOUT DAVID
Career experience

David Ellis helped found Elderhostel (now Road Scholar), has been an arbitrator for Financial Industry Regulatory Authority for more than 25 years, and has consulted extensively in the U.S., Brazil and Chile. From 1990 through 2012, Ellis was the President and Director of the Museum of Science. This was followed by Interim Directorships at the Boston Children’s Museum and the Harvard Museum of Natural History. He currently serves as Interim Executive Director of the Berkshire Museum. Earlier in his career, Ellis served as President of Lafayette College and held a variety of positions at the University of New Hampshire, from Assistant Professor and Associate professor of Chemistry to Vice President for Academic Affairs.
