David has over 30 years of experience in academic and museum administration which has helped him consult for the Hospice Help Foundation and the York Public Library since joining ESC in 2016.
He has served on many and chaired several boards, helped found Elderhostel (now Road Scholar), has been an arbitrator for Financial Industry Regulatory Authority for more than 25 years, and has consulted extensively in the U.S., Brazil and Chile.
Prior to joining ESC, David was the President and Director of the Museum of Science from 1990 through 2012. This was followed by Interim Directorships at the Boston Children’s Museum and the Harvard Museum of Natural History for about two years each.
David has an Advanced Management Program Certificate from the Harvard Business School, a PhD in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an AB from Haverford College. He has received seven honorary degrees and the Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award from Haverford College.
David says, “My two ESC projects to date have involved strategic planning. The consultant’s role has been to help guide the process, work with the institution’s leadership and staff, undertake applicable research, and bring a broader view of the process and opportunities to the effort, as appropriate.”
